If you are cloning to a new blank layer be sure to have the all layers or all layers below check box on the clone tool bar. click while holding alt (option on MAC) as your source material and then click and paint on the destination spot.

If there are multiple layers in your image, flatten them: "Layer...Flatten Image".

flattening layers is generally not a good idea if you are trying to preserve the ability to undo or redo or modify any of your adjustment layers. I never flatten my layers.

Then make a copy of the file, flatten the layers, and see if you can clone. Simply trying to get to the bottom of his problem.

Jerryc41,

I forgot that the Brit's cloned Dolly!!

Why then cannot I clone out some unwanted white space in a photograph??

It's simple they said about PS, it's simple, but you have to purchase it first.
I did purchase it and now I cannot get the program to reset to default files as instructed!!

Thanks Jerryc41 for the reply/remarks

Try deleting the preference file from your computer manually.
local disk c:\users\usersname\appdata\roaming\adobe\adobe photoshop cs6\adobe photoshop cs6 settings
look for a file named: Adobe photoshop x64 (or x32) cs6 prefs
delete file and restart PS. It will rebuild a new file.

If PS is working correctly this will work. I've used this before, if there's other issues you might have to reinstall PS

Hope this helps.
Have a merry Christmas

Steve DeMott,
Your not going to believe me.....
But, when I read your post to me, I recalled seeing such a file in the Windows 10 side. I opened the side panel and there was two files: Adobe Photoshop CS6 and another file Adobe Photoshop (64 bit).
Just for giggles and grins, i clicked on the 64 bit file, it immediately opened CS6 and I was able to clone immediately.

I then opened the other file (that did not have either 32 or 64 bit) by the file. I tried to clone and it would not work using this file!! ???? WHY??

So, now I'm going to have to open the file using the Window file instead of using the PS Icon on the bar!!??

And as usual the question is, WHY???

I will say this to you and all other UHH'rs that gave me information, THANKS !!!
Until I can learn the "Why". I'll use the 64bit file to open Photoshop!!

Thanks again Steve and to ALL others that sent me information, THANKS AGAN!!

Merry Christmas all, and have a safe and sane New Year, if we can!!!
