Oops, looks like I read the Nikon post wrong...sorry not trying to set anyone up with the wrong parts...would not be compatible.

Yeah for pullum and snaphappy it is the classic story of nikon guy meets canon girl and they just can't find a happy middle ground.

Snap you of course are out of his league with a Canon. :D LOL

NO, Brad, I, Don, a stout hearted male, looking for a Gal with beautiful Nikon Bod.

The October Popular Photography that I just got via digital, has a great rundown on all the Mirrorless cameras. Worthwhile article.

Probably rather than hunting for a Nikon gal, I will look for a Nipon gal named Sony. I have Minolta AF lenses in my ol' stuff box. Sony fits my travel lite style.

Yeah Don when I went back and read your post slowly I realized my error. I meant no insinuation about anyone's orientation. Best of luck on finding a Nipon girl with Sony/Nikon/Minolta accessories. That does open up the options I would think.

SnapHappy: Are you in the Tampabay Area? Are you a member of the TBCC, www.mytbcc.com This friday is the competition meeting, Water is the theme.

If in the area, at least check it out one time. d/p

PS: I have a Canon G-2 that I converted to IR only.
PPS: The gal has to have one of those hardy Nikon Bods. I have an old! Nikon 8008. Minolta died long ago. Kodak DC4800 is still a living camera, 3mp and 12years old!!!

Brad, I thought you had seen my flowers, every male artistic person has the sensitive-fem side of appreciation of beauty. And, if you are old enough to recall, in the 1990's the ladies searched the that "male with sensitivity and understanding!!!)

No offense taken, see, one lady already replied!! Also have psychological hide like leather. I had a good chuckle. First thing i said was .. Brad's another candidate for remedial reading 101.

Laughing at Reading 101, you got that right! Yeah I am old enough and in the Tampa area also, so no offense meant...keep me from getting roughed up by a guy with a Nikon. Being military my metaphorical skin is quite thick also.

Brad, you and The Canon gal,SnapHappy, are both in the area. The TBCC is a great club. The Critiques after the point competition is very helpful. The club meets at 7:00 pm, but usually people get there early to fill out the forms for submission. I think we had over 40 photos submitted last month. Dues are only $35/year and you get a christmas party with food!!! mytbcc.com
Oh, yes, we now have IDs and Press Passes.

Sensitivity, here in USA everyone excuses them selves and are so politically correct!!! My year in Argentina was great, they talk about anything any time and argue political issues and burn tires in the street, just a place of freedom. The strikers have the drummers, and burning tires and are protected by the police. Are we as free as in Argentina? I took lots of street photos there, here I am reluctant, usa is odd place to live once you see the world!!! And I have been here all my life. Also cars and wires everywhere!!!

I am a world traveler also, and you are right...we impinge on our freedom by granting rights to everyone. I subscribed on TBCC but it will be next year before I can come out, I have an upcoming trip to another country and will be gone a for a while.

I'm guessing you mean me?

The fly was preoccupied with something that had spilled on that spot. I just moved in slowly and tried not to spook it.

Hi Don, no I'm not in the Tampa area per se, south of that in fact (Sarasota) and haven't ventured into an actual camera club. Ok, call me chicken....

BTW, I still have my old Nikon L2, P&S----does that count???

And I totally agree with you and Brad about so-called freedom here in the good ole U.S. of A. not being the same as in other countries I've visited and lived. It's rather delusional.

SnapHappy, I get good ratings with my P&S Panasonic TZ3. There are few rules I have learned since I protested my consistently low scores. Since that night the club has been doing critiques for all shots.
1 Focus on one assigned theme and it should make a statement
(this month water, a bowel of still water is not a statement, the water should be doing something or something doing to the water.
I have one of my two for Sept. Second will be my handful of Ice in glass coffee urn then use the trick to make (fake smoke) steam. Title: Add handful of Ice to hot coffee!! http://photoextremist.com/ search for video on fake smoke.
2 get rid of junk (preferably before shot, or use clone)
3 do tight crop to theme area (that was my rude awakening)
4 no burned (over exposed) areas (turn down exposure to- you can always brighten)
P&S do not worry, one night a Cellphone photo was top dog! I waited months before submitting. Point is you learn a lot and have fellow FotoNuts to be around once or twice a month.
PS: Download Topaz Adjust. If you do not have a PS etc type program, then they have a free stand alone machine that will use the topaz plugins. Try it for 30, you love it. Don

I am way out in Lithia so the drive into Tampa is not practical right now, but we are considering moving to town if the wife gets a new job out there. If we make it to town I will become a regular.

Thanks for the tips, Don! I'm still in the makin'-it-without-remakin'-it phase of not having any PP to work with. Trying to learn how to best manipulate the camera's settings to get closer to what I see in my head. The attached pic of the moon is an example of no PP and no idea how to get moon details without darkening the sky unrealistically (considering I just shot this not 10 min. ago!). Input welcomed......

Did contrast, sharpen with Topaz Adjust, it is fast and no brain stuff that is perhaps why I like it. Total about 5 minutes, or 10.

Then In level/color correct just move the eye dropper over and click. Bingo, turns white (remove yellow)

Low cost, I suggest PSP X3 and Topaz Adjust. Total price for both about $100. PSP X-3 compares favorably to $600 PS CS-5 tho the religious following the Adobe god will not agree. Topaz has a stand alone free ware that allows the use of their plugins (i think?) Hope this is the type of "input welcomed" you meant.

Hay, get PSP and Topaz Adj for 30 days ,,, adj is the work horse just use arrow key and go down til you like the look and tweek with sliders at the right side of adjust. You will find it installs under filters. Net has directions for installation. and that is easy stepwise. click this,,, click that and ping, done.
