The latest i’ve been getting are text messages supposedly from UPS or FedX to “confirm a package delivery” and a link to click. Instant delete.
Got two yesterday one saying they found a suitcase with $4mil in it with my name tag on it. The other was from a 79 year old widower who wants to have me distribute his fortune after he passes..... to worthy causes of course.
I've gotten several calls asking if I received my new Medicare card, which was issued because of COVID. I cannot print what I said to the last caller.

I just give them my ex wife's ssn.
Folks do bite on this stuff. Our small town weekly has them in their police blotter regularly. Thing is, if I was caught in one I think I'd be too embarrassed to report it.

You mean that Nigerian Prince.
I tell them my SS# is "123-45-6789", and my name is "Bernard Sanders". I don't understand why they won't believe me.
I have read several times that studies show these scammers get a positive response almost one to two percent of the time. Sad to think that there are that many gullible people out there. Somebody must be following up as there seems to be no end to the efforts to scam our money.
