I’m fascinated by both of these birds. The skimmers are incredible.....ungainly appearing on land, with a huge, disproportionate bill (which is perfect for skimming small fish and other food from the surface).....elegantly flying above the water. One of these birds is banded. The osprey, a fishing raptor, with excellent vision and timing to capture fish. Once those talons grab on to the fish, they turn the fish head first and fly to a perch to consume the prey. I was using a Nikon D780 with a 300 prime lens with teleconverter at 1/2500 shutter speed and was a little surprised when the bird came right toward me! This was a good birding week!
Excellent, beautiful captures, you have an excellent camera and lens setup.

I appreciate your comment, Gary! I like that one a lot too!
An outstanding action set. And it's you, not just the camera and lens, that made the difference.

Beautifully done! I especially love the views of the intricate feathering on the osprey!

Stupendous photos! Downloads even more so. Pics to die for!
Given a lot of what I've heard about teleconverters you sure make them look good! Thanks so much for this post. I love these shots.
Wow, excellent especially #3 and all near the end, PHV.
