I’ve admired your images of these wonderful vintage automobile hood ornaments - real works of art. A question arose in my mind as to whether, in that era of these luxury cars, hood ornaments were a standard issue for a particular model or could the well heeled customer have a custom hood ornament made for his purchase. I am sure many of those luxury automobiles were made on order.

The answers to your questions are yes, & yes. Carmakers, of course, made their own with a lot of specialized branding. But also, several companies developed distinct radiator caps and later, hood ornaments for the hundreds of individual manufacturers of the teens, twenties, & thirties.

Those six rectangular indentations in the raised hood ( pic. 2) - were they vents or just sculpted in body -? Exceptionally nice set ------------
