Good one: "beating a Tom Tom during an eclipse will always bring the sun back out."

Thanks - not original with me. The entire quote (on a sign in my college sub joint) was: “when confused about correlation vs causation, remember that beating a Tom Tom during an eclipse will always bring the sun back out”

it was next to: “tipping ain’t just a city in China”

You probably heard that the Pfizer vaccine has five doses in a vial, rather than four, so they will be delivering more vaccine than advertised. How does that work? Does someone have to pour the vaccine from the vial into smaller containers? That sounds like thousands of accidents waiting to happen. "Whoops! I spilled some. I'll just add a little water. No one will know the difference."

This has been discussed at length in the news: the recommendation is NOT to mix the content of the vaccine vials. The problem has been attributed to inaccurate metering during the manufacturing process.

Here's a question; The stuff has to be stored at -94, do they have to warm it up before injecting it into you?

Pretty sure you draw out the correct dose (typ.)with the needle to be used and have 4 inline recipients just waiting. Once it's opened, it has to be used.

I heard a report that the tiny funnels the “someones” use to pour the vaccine from the big vats into those tiny vials aren’t sterilized so the vaccine can be contaminated with who knows what!! It’s true!!! I heard it!!!

Jerry, you are a pessimist.

Realist, maybe. Lots of reports of drugs being adulterated surface and disappear.

I hope they are not stretching what’s left in the vial after the fourth dose into a fifth dose that is a bit shy of vaccine.

This vaccine is unprecedented. Most vaccines can take two to four years to study. Sometimes even longer than that. With the discover of the contagion, it took nine months to produce a vaccine. That is a historical event.

Our perilous time tests the sober mind.

Facts and information otherwise trustworthy fall into question. Rumormongers gain the spotlight. The news media worsens the condition by its practice of lies, bias, and propaganda. The public finds itself in the hands of typists who string words together for interesting sentences. Falsity results.

Half the story presents as enough to support an opinion or a conclusion in the popular awareness. A swirl of voices becomes a siren stealing attention. One-sidedness rules the flow of verbiage and images in the public dialog, producing national division.

More than ever, in this confusion the individual must think for himself. The tools of critical thought can counter the rampant falsity and expose the flawed assumptions that purport to direct us to the right end.

Our human intellect can sift and sort things for a rational order. The thinker Ayn Rand points the way: "We have only reason to guide us in this life."

Jerry, I've heard a number of 'experts' questioning the speed of development, short testing time, the limited number of test subjects, etc. Keep in mind that 1/2 the number of test subjects were given a placebo. This further limits the number of people who were actually tested for both resistance to the virus as well as negative reactions to the vaccine.

I, for one, and not going to be rushing to be first in line.

The wife and I are in the most vulnerable group (age). As some one who worked in the medical (community) for my entire career, I wouldn't be among the first to take the vaccine either. I am going to wait a month or 2.

I worked in a major pharmaceutical company for 36 years before retiring. ALL of our liquid and freeze dried products were overfilled to make sure that the customer got the minimum dose. The overfills cost us millions, but it was a necessary process step. This is not news, but something that the new media wants to take off and run with because right now the vaccine is news and anything related to it is "news". Not a major discovery to anyone in the medical industry

All vaccines have some overfill, they always have, for several reasons. First, it's impossible to get 100% of the volume back out of the vial, there is always some that stays in the vial, so it's necessary to compensate for that. Second, there's always some variation in each syringe pump when the vials are filled, again that needs to be compensated by some overage, possibly by use of statistical methods and standard deviations. Third, the user will likely never extract the exact dosage from the vial, the syringes used are not that accurate. Eg, if a dose is 0.3 ml, the user may actually extract 0.27 or 0.32 ml for example so, again that needs to be compensated for in the fill volume. If there is any left in the vial, it is likely that the user didn't extract it accurately but, if stored properly, it should be OK to use.
I made vaccines for 40+ years and in fills as large as 250 to 500 ml, 4.0 to 5.0 ml overfill was mandated. With fills as small as 1 ml, about 0.2 ml overfill was mandated.

Excellent. I wish I had the ability to say what you just said. I can only copy quotes from others:

"As I grow older , I regret to say that a detestable habit of thinking seems to be getting a hold of me."
H. Rider Haggard, King Solomon's Mines

“The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those who speak it.” George Orwell
