I got an email supposedly from RoadRunner asking me to give them my payment information or they would halt my service. The email came from vhinkle@ma.rr.com.

My favorite is “we suspect your social security number may have been compromised. Please enter it and press pound.”

The first thing I do when I get strange emails is click on the sender’s address which expands to the actual address. If it doesn’t have the original organization’s name in the address I report it and then toss it.

Me too, but this one was an actual window that opened up on my computer. The hackers are getting more sophisticated so that they can insert malware onto your screen to make it look like it's coming from Apple.

Yup.
Sometimes I copy the header info and forward the email (with the header info) to the abuse address for the domain it came from.
Mostly I just mark as spam.
