Looks like you captured it, CD. It has the feeling of desolation. Leaves me wanting to see more of the main street. Are there derelict houses or other empty businesses?

Beautiful capture but it asks more questions than it answers: Where, What, Why?

Thank you very much, John. Yes, there are a few houses, a number of other empty/closed businesses, and a couple of churches. I took about 20 different shots of old places and will post more when I go through them.

Thank you very much, Curmudgeon. Probably the same old story --- post office closed, young people moving to the city, schools close, old people die and nobody wanting to live in a go-nowhere town that seems to have out-lived its purpose. Pretty soon, even the memories will be gone. Sad, but you have probably seen the same situation in many USA small towns.

Begging the question, is the church down the street still active and attended regularly.

Thanks for your question, PhotoHobbyist. No, the church is closed, and nobody attends there. No activity anywhere. I walked around much of the town. Lots of tire tracks, but I never saw another human being or a vehicle that was in running condition.

Thank you very much, jederick. I had an interesting time walking around that old town and I felt a mix of emotions. It is a place I will definitely return to in the summer.

There’s certainly a feeling of emptiness in the photo. Nice shot.
