All choices you don't have to make. There is almost nothing you can buy that doesn't have options you can purchase.

And, I would add, there's tons of skies you can obtain free on the internet, or make your own.

I keep finding and learning new fun stuff in Photoshop, the five Lightrooms, ACR, Portfolio and Bridge. And, it's always the same $10 a month. I don't really know what AI is or how it works. Adobe says there is a lot of AI in their stuff. For some reason they call it "Sensai". I know that the "Auto" button works a lot better than before it had some AI power.

That said, I will be enjoying the inevitable YouTube reviews and will have fun getting Luminar AI when and if it blows my socks off.

I have Luminar AI and so far my "sox are still on".

Funny.

I have the full Adobe subscription. It can be a long story, but I don't actually pay for it.

I'm continually looking for my socks. Most recently it has been a couple new features in Premiere Pro and After Effects. We grown used to being able to remove flaws in photos. Now we can do it with video.

Sky replacement was added to Photoshop a few weeks ago. Oddly it can have a sky reflection effect to the foreground. I had to look for my socks after that.

The ongoing problem with my socks is the "interconnected ecosystem". I shoot a picture with my quite good Samsung phone and the RAW image is immediately teleported to Lightroom Classic ready for adjustment, emailing, posting or printing. I wish my "real" cameras did that!

I cancelled my order to luminar ai a bout a month ago. The more I read about it, the more I decided it was not for me. I did use and love luminar 3 and 4, However, it was always soo slow, and also had other niggling things that annoyed me, so I started playing around with my on1 photoraw2020, and Found out that it was faster, and did the things I wanted more easily and with more stability. I had already preordered the 2021 edition. I have since uninstalled all Luminar from my machine, which BTW is pretty fast and has 32 gigs of fast ram..so there was no reason for luninar to be so slow

I was concerned about the Looks Collections that I had amassed in Luminar 4 and whether they could be used in LuminarAI. "Looks" is now referred to as "Templates" in the LuminarAI. After doing a brief search online, I discovered that most of the Looks Collections from Luminar 4 are automatically migrated over to LuminarAI. My only complaint is that the "legacy" Looks Collections are not grouped by category as in Luminar 4; they are simply put on a single list under My Collection.

Skylum posted instructions on how to access the "legacy" looks in LuminarAI:

"The looks from Luminar 4 should have been migrated to LuminarAI automatically. Make sure you have installed them in Luminar 4."

Here's how to find Luminar 4 looks in LuminarAI

Launch LuminarAI.

In the top bar, click Templates > Switch to My Collection: https://prnt.sc/w0f896

You'll be able to find your looks from Luminar 4 under Legacy tab: https://prnt.sc/w0f969

I did this and the looks from Luminar 4 are not there. What now?

After playing with it for a few hours its very similar to Luminar 4. There are some new features, but overall is just a Luminar 4 upgrade. Maybe I'll discover more in the days ahead.

There are many really cool features that you can add and download--FOR A FEE. It looks like the really cool stuff is going to cost you extra. It irks me that they have held the good stuff back and offer it only for add'l costs.

I wouldn't be surprised if Luminar 4 is discontinued in place of AI.
Is it worth the price, hmmm, not so sure, but then again, if they as many of us believe, discontinue L 4, then you'll have to upgrade anyways. A lot of advertising hype for very little in return.

These are my initial thoughts. I hope to discover reasons for me to have coughed up 79 bucks.

Perhaps your discontent provides an opportunity to check the current offerings from other Adobe alternatives. I'd suggest looking at these 3:
- Affinity Photo (which since it's initial release has provided free upgrades and has never asked for a penny more)
- on1 (which I prefer to Luminar and which has enlargement that rivals Topaz Gigapixel), and
- DxO (excellent RAW developer which has built-in many of the features of Nik and has noise reduction that rivals Topaz DeNoise).
Other UHHers can advocate for their favorites.

I have not run across any features that are available for a fee. Can you point some of those out for me? Thank you

I suggest that you reread the post. While the OP refers to features for a fee, he doesn’t state what features those are.

Why don’t you help this 78-year-old guy out and just point me to where it’s located.

I wish they would fix the plug in to Photoshop for 16 bit files.
