coded flange for leica 90mm tele elmarit

i purchased a coded flange to replace the original on a 90mm tele-elmarit ( i believe version ll ). i am using it
with an m8 . the lens now does not focus to infinity . i have measured both flanges and they seem to be the
same thickness - .98mm . both flanges seem to be the same as far as i can establish . i have used the same type flange on a 28mm elmarit with no problems . any idea on what i am not seeing and might be causing the problem ?

Why did you replace the original ?
Will the original still focus to infinity ?
Is the replacement Leica OEM ?

with the original flange the lens works properly . i changed the flange in order to to have a flange that tells the camera what lens is being used . supposedly , the camera is then able to correct for that particular lens .
i was hoping that someone on the hog had maybe had the same problem . no , the flange is not oem , but
i am using a flange from the same source , and it works on my 28mm lens ( the same flange is used for
both 28mm and 90mm lenses )

Mort, this is from the Leica Forum. Not sure if it works but worth reading. I did just learn that adding lenses manually was added starting with the M9. Also became aware that on my camera, the M246, I can add one lens to each user profile. Bruce

Can the troublesome flange be fully threaded onto the 90 when the lens is already set at infinity ?

If you can get that far, next test is whether the above will mount onto the M body while still kept at its inf focus.

I’m wondering if something in the rear of the 90 is colliding with something in the flange while perhaps the 28 does not have any colliding part on its rear end.

thanks for your reply . the flange i was replacing was for an m mount 90mm tele elmarit , and replaces the original
flange . i did solve the problem . i bit the bullet , and sanded the flange to make it thinner , and now the lens focuses properly . i really don't understand it because both the original and the replacement flange seemed to measure the same . my screw mount lenses work fine with the coded flanges i ordered .

thanks for your reply . i did solve the problem by sanding the replacement flange to make it thinner , and now the lens focuses properly . i really don't totally understand it , because both the original and the replacement seemed
to measure about the same . took me a bit before i resorted to the sanding .
