The diopter should be set at "zero" or the middle. Usually it is marked with a slightly larger smooth area or indicator than the rest of the dial.

You want to make sure your photos are sharp. I found it best to do it with my glasses on because that is how I view the scene. Then, you should be able to see your camera controls with your glasses on.

Correcting the misspelling of a technical term, (even one that might be familiar to many photographers or musicians or whatever the subject is) is not wrong. Nor is it wrong when the grammar or sentence structure is incorrect and leads to confusion or misunderstanding.
There is absolutly no need to get snarky about it.
If you want to show off how scathing you can be, go after someone who is grabbing the low-hanging fruit. Like someone who would assail me for a simple typo that I've failed to correct. (It's here somewhere!)

So if I wear glasses most of the time, and adjust my diopter accordingly, and my auto-focus works fine, then if I happen to quickly take a photo without my glasses but the diopter and auto-focus haven't been changed, it might look a bit "off" in the viewfinder but the image itself should be OK?

The only silly question is the one that remains unasked. 😉

Since my cataract sergery, I have replacement lens' that are for Distance only. I wear Glasses for close up, 3 feet or less. (There is a void up to about 10 feet or so). I set my diopter without my classes on and that is fine, it works for me. I need my glasses to read the camera setings, which is a little inconvient some time, since I shoot manual mode most of the time. The display on my nikon is ok to make quick adjustments though. It is a matter of choice. Try both ways, this is not rocket science. Whatever you are comfortable with.

If you wear glasses while shooting then you should adjust your diopter with your glasses on. If you adjust it without your glasses you would not have your clearest view when you put your glasses back on to shoot.

With my cameras I wear my glasses and adjust the diopter to make the viewfinder information, meter...settings...etc, tack sharp. That’s all folks!

I have the same problem (I didn't read through the entire thread so my solution may be redundant). Anyway, here it is. I wear glasses with progressive lenses for distance and reading. Because my glasses have ear cables I can't easily remove them to take photos or look through the optical viewfinder. My solution has been to use cheap, drugstore reading glasses, which I've attached with a neck cord, so when shooting I can keep them dangling and put on and take off easily with one hand. This allows me then to adjust the diopter for viewing with my naked eye. Problem solved. Of course, it only works if your distance vision is at least good enough to allow you to walk around without killing yourself.
