How is this 'main photography discussion?' Hopefully it will be in the attic soon.

This is where I live:

Ohio reported an additional 10,114 coronavirus cases on Friday, as well as 129 new deaths. This is the highest single-day number since last Friday, when health officials reported 10,065 new cases. The number of reported new deaths is more than twice the 21-day daily average of 56 deaths, and is the highest daily number since Nov. 25, when the state reported 156 new deaths. Ohio hospitals also reported 392 additional hospitalizations.
How is this 'main photography discussion?' Hopeful... (show quote)

Just had a review from CDC that less than 6% of the total number of deaths in the United States attributed to COVID-19 were really caused by Covid-19. The hospitals get a 20% bonus for attributing the death to Covid 19. Gee, I wonder who got that bonus put into law or rule? so that means that ANYONE that enters the hospital with ANY other serious disease and dies is considered a death from Covid-19.

You’ve been asked twice now to post the actual reference and are apparently unable to do so. I HAVE been to the CDC site and see nothing like what you’re contending, so post the actual reference/proof of both the CDC “claim” and the “20% bonus”, or I presume this is BS.

Touchy subject. A fella living in Montana is less likely to be at risk than people living in a crowded city environment. Tighter social dictates may be necessary in an urban environment but let's please recognize the way this spreads and the implications of contracting it. It spreads primarily in crowded enclosed environments so try to avoid those places, minimize time there and wear a mask when you are there. I'm not ready to step off this rock just yet if it can be avoided.

I don't mind that at all. It shows that people love me, value me, and want me to stay around for a long time. That's what it means, right?

The number in N.C. as of today is 1.4% for all ages, BUT for my and my wife’s age group and medical conditions, it’s 10-20x that. Not only do I not want to take that risk if it’s preventable, but I don’t want to risk giving it to my grandchildren (one who is a month old), my friends, or especially all of the dedicated and overworked health care and front line first responders that will care for me. I also don’t want the lengthy hospital stay, taking up an ICU bed that someone with a different disease may need, the attendant bills or the potential health consequences the remainder of my life.

Anyone who doesn’t do everything reasonably possible to prevent contracting the disease (and I’m NOT suggesting that includes you), is, in my opinion, behaving in a selfish and irresponsible manner for an adult, and if they do contract it, they should not seek medical care and endanger those healthcare personnel that are risking their own health and lives.

I've heard that about the 20% bonus for reporting deaths as COVID deaths. But I've not been able to find a verifiable source to substantiate that claim. Can you provide one?

QD, you are the MAN!
An old friend from the Navy, a brother and a sister in law are all Covid survivors. I wonder how many would have died from something else so the medical facilities couldn't collect the 20%. No-one WANTS the 20% right? They are all in their 60's, could have been almost anything on their death certificates, right? Oh wait, they DIDN'T DIE.

My math says that we had a national uprising that stopped the Vietnam conflict and in that we lost about 50,000 lives. We had a major commitment to WWII and that cost us about 130,000 lives. We also had a major commitment to WWI and that cost us about 116,000 lives. The total cost of all three of those wars was about 296,000 lives. Those three wars took many years of commitment to accomplish that amount of death. Now we are so advanced that we can allow a pandemic to rage to the point where we can exceed that amount of death in about 11 months! We're getting pretty close as I write this!
