It's not just about the deaths. Our medical professionals have gotten better at keeping Covid victims alive. But hospitals are nearing capacity with the latest surge, and having this disease bad enough to be hospitalized causes lots of suffering. The virus attacks multiple systems in the body, and they are finding out there are long term effects which we don't even know the extent of yet.
I have a hard time believing anything on CNN - Try checking with the CDC and read their own study on the statistics or study on who REALLY dies of Only Covid-19 and not of heart failure or some other issue like a car accident.

Just had a review from CDC that less than 6% of the total number of deaths in the United States attributed to COVID-19 were really caused by Covid-19. The hospitals get a 20% bonus for attributing the death to Covid 19. Gee, I wonder who got that bonus put into law or rule? so that means that ANYONE that enters the hospital with ANY other serious disease and dies is considered a death from Covid-19.
Let's see the link? I think you are passing along false information.
Go to the CDC and look it up yourself

I've heard that about the 20% bonus for reporting deaths as COVID deaths. But I've not been able to find a verifiable source to substantiate that claim. Can you provide one?
I hope the news media follows and report daily, The Flu this year and tell us how many cases are reported and how many deaths happen from it.....just sayin'

Got a bunch of folks who sign off on a comment with "Stay Safe" or "Be Healthy" - just rocks my boat. How about "Have Fun" or "Live long and Prosper". Where I live, as of today, one and six hundredth percent of the folks who get Covid - AKA the WU Flu die, harsh for them and their families. Life is not safe, but if you don't live it, enjoy it, what does it matter. Those of us who care to live life will, however it works out. You really need to find a more reliable source of news.
Just a clarification on the "bonus" that hospitals get for Covid-19 patients. Because of the number of Medicare patients being treated by hospitals for Covid, and the terrible rate at which Medicare reimburses hospitals and doctors (take note of this if Medicare for all becomes law), Congress enacted a law in which it would pay $50,000 to hospitals for every Covid-19 patient to offset losses for the way in which Medicare reimburses them. I do not believe that deaths by Covid-19 are artificially inflated. While patients may also have pneumonia or other life threatening diseases, I'm sure all who are attributed to Covid have been tested positive for Covid and that it is a contributing factor to their deaths. For those of you who would play the statistics game, Covid is nothing to sneeze at. You take those same statistics and apply it to large gatherings and eventually the number is going to strike home. I just learned that my former college roommate, who has health issues and basically stays at home spent 12 days in the hospital with Covid.
