At least the damage is to something that can be replaced, unlike those morons who deface natural features or ancient rock art. 2,000 Anasazi rock art vs. modern moron. (Though the Anasazi were graffitti artists!)

Damage to antiquities is unforgivable!

PP or leaning forward slightly would be the answer in getting the mountain photograph. That way no one sees the stupidity of the stupid.

Thanks for the comment Delta49. As per previous comments, this was deliberate photo taken from a place where I have successfully photographed this charming valley without the hand of man.

Thanks for the comment John, stay well.

Sorry to go against the flow, but for one thing, it is only a guard rail that is carved on. And, really, it's kind of sad spending too much time tut-tuting about the guard rail when exquisite beauty is just above it. It would be a lot worse to see beer cans below the rail - but I don't.

Lighten up, people!

You are right of course and as I stated above I have photographed this view of the Walker River many times from this overlook....as I was overlooking this guard rail. This photo was my take on the need to say "I'm here!". Thanks for the comment on the comments Bob.

Phil, I agree. Ignoring the trash, great photo.

Hi Greg, thanks for the visit. This is the first year in many that I have not had two or three trips across the seasonal Sierra passes. I have missed the mountains.

What is that they say about “fool’s names and fool’s faces often appear in public places?” That statement comes to mind with this well done shot.

The view is spectacular, Phil. Many obviously wasted a lot of time when the should have been enjoying nature!

Hi Carol, it is a spectacular view and one I missed very much this year. Hope we get a chance for a visit next year. Thanks for the comment, keep well.

At least it appears to be on a handrail or other man-made structure and not on a natural object.

You are right Ron, as defacements go it almost has a well polished and rustically ornamental quality...which I was playing with here. And yes it is a whole lot better than spray painting granite boulders but it still feels like a puny effort and time wasted that could have been spent looking at that beautiful valley. Thanks for the comment.
