There seems to be more of a relationship between Mr. and Mrs. in the top photo. Very nice

For me, the first. Shadowed male is problematic. Is the first a crop? If so, I would give the birds a bit more room in the frame, especially on the bottom.

Thanks, Nalu!

First one for sure!! I prefer this one as both eagles are well lit, in the second there is a bit of a shadow over the male. Also prefer the pose of the 2 in the first image. BTW both are good images.

I'd pick #1. Both eagles are in good focus, especially the eyes. In #2 the males eye is not quite sharp.

Have been watching this pair of Bald Eagles for 3 years now and hopefully for many more. They mate for life and can live for 30 years. The female is on the right (she is 25% larger and has a slightly deeper beak). The eagle is hands down my favorite bird as it is the symbol for our nation and my Marine Corps! PLEASE help me choose which shot to add to our calendar for next year....

I also prefer the first image.

Why do we insist on impuning human behavioral traits onto non human animals? If we ignore the humanized emotional attachment aspect of the photo, then which photo is better composed and exposed. That's your choice but once that choice is made then that's the one for the calendar IMHO.

I think maybe because animals also show affection to each other on some way. Mourn a death or loss, just not to the same degree as we do.

Can't go wrong with either of those beauties, but were it me I'd go with the 2nd.
Thanks for sharing the great photos.
