Christmas present from my wife

I am taking one of my daughters to Bass Pro on Tuesday and mentioned that I should be able to buy a gun while I am there. My wife said “it goes under the tree as a gift from me!” I said “You aren’t going to believe how wonderful your gift to me is going to be.” Her look said ‘it better be under the tree.” She is wonderful isn’t she?

Nice. You might want to stock up on some of those hard to find bullets.

She is great. I would've said, "buy 2, His and Hers and we'll put them under the tree." Mele Kalikimaka.

You do realize that she just "got" you a car that nobody can find gas for, right?
Naw, just funning with ya. Although, in this da and climate, I'd rather get ammo for the guns I DO have. 1000 rounds would look nice under the tree! Sounds like a lot but really isn't THAT much...

Of course collecting firearms is not for everyone however for us that do it is a durable item investment. I've never lost money on any item in my collection when traded or sold. Investing in ammo is better than investing in gold with the current demand and increases in value. One need not even own a firearm to invest in ammunition.

Many collectables are a fad that comes and goes, like the "Beanie Babies" and many items fall out of style that attract current collectors. However not so much so for firearms. I wonder what my Nikon Z6 will be worth ten years from now compared to my Sig Sauer P226 X5-Level One and how quickly I could liquidate it compared to a ten year old camera should I ever be in the need for some cash.

So what is your wife going to buy for you to give her?

1000 rounds? Are you going to start WWIII?

Cheaper to buy in bulk.

And they keep. You don't have to use them all at once.

I might get to shoot it when she isn't using it. I had the Smith & Wesson 44 magnum 2.75" barrel and she loved the recoil, it was very accurate. I sold it because I was worried I would confuse the ammo with my 45 long colt. I regret that decision now.

She will be buying me a Smith and Wesson .44 Magnum
Bass Pro has the model 69 4.25" barrel (will see this when in Columbia)
Gun Range has the model 629 6" barrel (leaning toward this one because the balance and trigger action are amazing, looked at it yesterday)

And there is plenty of 44 special and 44 magnum ammo in the area if you know where to look

I usually take 200 rounds to the range to maintain my proficiency. 1000 rounds will only last 5 trips.

When my wife and I go to the range we shoot about 200 rounds. Once or twice a month

Wow. Have you thought about a laser cartridge? Great for dry fire practice.

Problem is, I never sell any of my guns, so the investment will be for my kids, but they wouldn't sell them either.

When I target shoot it's amazing how many rounds I go thru. And I do it in our side field just out our side door. Nice living in the country.
