Has anyone else who uses Lightroom CC to edit photos have problems with healing and cloning tool not working properly or not at all. I usually end up transferring to photoshop to use the healing or cloning tool. Just wondering if others have same problem or it is user error not using it right.

It’s not as good as PS. Over the years I use it sparingly

I've never had it not work at all but I've had problems cloning over areas that have been worked on by the Adjustments brush. Sometimes things underneath the patch show through even when the patch is at full opacity. My answer is to get the cloning done early, before I start using the Adjustments brush.

There is a procedure for resetting the tools that I have found can fix those types of issues. Use the built-in Help to search for Reser Tools.

Are you talking about Lightroom classic (desktop pc version) or Lightroom CC, the mobile version? Just wondering, really, I do all of that work in Photoshop usually, so haven't used it lately.

I could not get mine to work either, then I discovered the opacity was all the way down !! I set it to 100 and works like a charm!!

Mine is at 100 and it still works like crap. The only time that I can get it to work halfway decently is to set the brush for a size 1.

Adobe advocates that you use the clone/heal brush tool at the very beginning of your processing. Adobe also says that doing a lot of cloning/healing will slow down the process overall. This is probably the weakest tool in the LrC lineup. I don't use this tool, for the most part, except for minimal corrections. PS is so much better at this job that I routinely use it instead.

After using the comparable and considerably better versions of these tools in Photoshop and On1 Raw, I decided not to waste my time with Lightroom for these kinds of edits. It is imprecise and somewhat unpredictable, and not nearly as seamless as what can be done in other applications. It always works, but not very well. For the occasional dust spot or minor change it's ok, but if you have a lot of editing, LR gets very slow as you add more adjustments.

Everything seems to be working for me in LRC after the major upgrade including the spot removal tool and the adjustment brush. If you think you might not be using it right, there are always Adobe or Youtube tutorials available. If it's not working on your system, contact technical support as others have mentioned.

I do the same as you. All done in Photoshop, primarily, because of "content aware".
