With a very nice cool breeze, a sunny day and in the company of my retired ophthalmologist, an avid photographer, we headed for the Maurice Ferre Park in Biscayne Boulevard in downtown Miami. I wanted to visit a near by park, the Bayfront Park but I could not make it. It is in my list and I will get to it soon. Lots to see and do there.

First thing I did was to head once again for the first statue of the park, located opposite The Perez Art Museum. This time I used a Panasonic 7-14 f4 with my Olympus EM-1 for the wider view. I then headed for The Plaza of the Spanish Navy, not actually a plaza but another icon of the park. It was built by commissioner Joe Carollo along with the Spanish Embassy Consul. The monument was built to honor the Spanish Navy commemorating their arrival to America in October 1942. I used the Panasonic 7-14 f4 here too.

For the third image I used the Zuiko 40-150 kit lens set to 40 mm. to emphasize some compression in the image. You can see two cruise ships in the background that it is my understanding they are not been given permission by local authorities to carry passengers yet. The buildings to the right of the ships belong to the Port of Miami. The buildings to the left are luxurious apartment buildings in Watson Island, a private island.

My last stop was at the same location I was before, the rear of the park where it faces Biscayne Bay. My ophthalmologist wanted to make a sequence shooting and he used his drone to make some very beautiful shots and a video of the surrounding areas. We waited for dusk here to photograph the buildings with light still in the sky. I could get some different views of those I made before and in addition the full moon was raising over the bay offering us an opportunity for some beautiful shots. Most of the images I made here were made using the Zuiko 12-40 f2.8 Pro and the Zuiko 40-150 f4-5.6 kit lens. When a tripod was required I used my Manfrotto 3021 with a Linhof ballhead. The last image was made of the buildings, including a partial view of the American Airlines Arena, facing Biscayne Boulevard.

It was a beautiful day and a rewarding one for us photographers.
