What exactly disappoints you? The fact that I prefer color to drabness? Just curious.
There are a whole lot of folks who disagree with that statement. "Purists" get upset unless your photo appears exactly like the eye saw. Well, this is how my eye saw it. I love color. People who get upset when you crank up the color a little bit would never say a word when Ansel Adams "exposed for the shadows and developed for the highlights." And all he was doing was making the print look how he wanted it to look. I'm glad you understand that photography is an art AND a craft.

Hmmm. What actually disappoints ME is the folks who post comments on other's posts but don't check "Quote Reply" so that we can tell to who they are commenting. For me, personally, I like your shots. Resembling velvet art is (again ... for me) not necessarily a bad thing ... just different.
You would be surprised at how many people are offended by photos that are not "pure." IMO color is supposed to be colorful.
