UPS delivered a replacement rifle today and it is nicer than the original one I had. The original did not have engraving on the stocks and did not have a side gate loader. 50 rounds at the range today and no issues. I now think Henry customer service is awesome and will be buying my next rifle from them.

Nice checkering work on the stock. So how do you like the 45/70 now that you’ve shot it some?

I helped Henry Arms get sanctioned for Cowboy Action (SASS). For that effort Anthony Emperanto (President) sent me one of the first off the line .357 Golden Boys. Really heavy so it is used for long range stages. Very accurate too. Not quite the range of the 45/70 but I needed a rifle of the same caliber as my pistols. Yours is also nicer looking since I do not have any stock work. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

I think anyone who had this rifle would like it as much as I do. It's very nice. I especially like the side loading.

That’s a sweet-looking lever action. It sounds like Henry is a stand-up company.

Jim, do you have an FFL? Just curious as I have purchased a number of firearms (both rifles & handguns) online in the past 7 or 8 yrs and all had to be shipped to a local FFL for me to take possession, for a fee, of course. Or is there an exception when shipped from a firearm manufacturer? P.s. I have a Henry .22 mag. Beautiful piece of work.

The owner of a firearm may ship it to the manufacturer for repairs, and he/she doesn't need an FFL. The manufacturer can make the repairs, then ship directly to the owner.

I've used this exception with Ruger, Smith & Wesson, and Colt's Firearms.

Several years ago I purchased the standard Henry 22. Right out of the box it wouldn't load a cartridge into the firing chamber. Henry paid for the return shipment and I had it back in ten days. Has worked fine ever since. But I may have to buy that side loading rifle!
