With the Covid-19 thing it’s getting harder to find someone to photograph. So, I have been practicing in my family room with a doll. Using speedlights and different modifiers. I’ve been doing one, two and three light setups. Trying to get comfortable with different modifiers, speedlights, triggers and camera.
Thanks, never thought of using a doll
I think that the lighting setup in #3 works best. The socks in #1 and 2 are distracting.
When practicing portraits a doll can do. It will be valuable for you what you will learn from practicing and experimenting.
By the way, I love the lighting in your first shot.
Your almost ready to open a portrait studio. This will save a lot of time when you get a live one. Nice work.
I used a panda bear once for practice. Actually liked the resulting shot a lot! I think the last one with 3 lights looks better. No hot spots.

I tried to get rid of all the hot spots. I was using Godox speedlights and a Godox X-pro controller. The X-pro controller has a function called TCM which helps to eliminate hot spots.
Love the lighting in the first and really like the third a lot. Would have three would have best if the light to the right were toned down just a bit.
I really like your presentation. Each shot is unique in subtle ways. Your illustrations are very informative. Thanks for posting.

Thank you, here's another one that I've been working on this morning.

A friend gave me this little Yaeccc softbox because it was broken. I repaired it and have been using it for almost a year.
