Took this photo just a few minutes ago, handheld 600mm low light and wondering what type of bird. Looked thru my Birds of NA book and settled on Bay Breasted Sparrow but the book doesn't show it range in Florida....comments? Wife really wants to know...
Looks like a Goldfinch transitioning to Winter plumage.
Concur....we were stuck in grosbeaks and sparrows because a Painted Bunting was hanging with him...went to the very back of my book and yes, there he was, most appreciated....Thanks, Cheers
We’re still seeing goldfinches in this plumage in Massachusetts despite the dropping temperatures. I guess not all migrate.
Thanks Clark, we're not seeing a lot of colors just this poor motley little finch however the Painted Bunting its hanging with is in full colors. Our winter season won't start until about Jan and then for two week its nothing more than putting a light sweater over your summer wardrobe... Cheers
