Old Sturbridge Village a living museum located in Sturbridge, Massachusetts recreates life in rural New England during the 1790s through 1830s. It is the largest living museum in New England, covering more than 200 acres

Depicted here are the Dummerston Covered Bridge Circa 1870 which was moved to Old Sturbridge Village from Dummerston, Vermont in 1951 and the Pliney Freeman Farm also moved here in 1951.

The covered bridge is distinctive because of its lattice truss design. The covered bridge at Old Sturbridge Village is one of only 12 left in Massachusetts. More than 1,000 covered bridges were built in New England in the 19th and early 20th centuries

Pliny Freeman Farm Circa 1815 is where Pliney Freeman and his family lived in Sturbridge in the early 1800s. At the Freeman Farm, work still follows the same seasonal and daily rhythms. Crops are planted and harvested, food is cooked at the kitchen hearth, animals are tended in the barnyards, and meat, butter, cheese, and produce are prepared for household use.

Very nice. The history was very good, too.

I visited there in 2013 and I posted a set to UHH back in 2019. If you're interested, here is aa link: https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-609375-1.html

When I was a boy we lived just a few miles away from Sturbridge Village. It’s where mom went to buy sugar pumpkins to make her pies at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Great photos! Makes me reminisce about my youth.

Thanks David. I enjoyed your photos. I grew up in Sturbridge and lived there until I moved 8 miles away a few years ago. I get to the Village quite often.
