Netflix Movie Suggestion: Great videography

Watched a great documentary on Netflix called "My octopus teacher". The backstory is that the videographer was depressed and needed - I guess - some inspiration in his life. He lives in South Africa near the ocean, and he started snorkeling in the cold waters in a kelp forest there. He observed an octopus and decided to return daily for the next year to film the life of the octopus. The videography is really beautiful, and life in the kelp forest is pretty interesting. Overall I thought it was well done and afterwards felt it had been a really good use of my time... I consider watching it again.

I read out your recommendation to Jean and she replied that we have watched it, not that long ago, and it was very good! Talk about failing memory! (Mine!)

100% agree, that's a wonderful documentary! The scene where the octopus uses shells to camouflage himself is by itself enough reason to watch this video.

UHH had some posts about this a while back, and I believe there were some suggestions on how to watch it if you don't have Netflix.

I agree, fantastic movie! I had no idea octopi were so smart! I used to love to eat them, but won't anymore because of that show.

The documentary on the octopus was absolutely amazing but the back story about the transformation of the author was incredible. Must see story.

Excellent documentary and back story. We saw it a second time just this weekend when our daughter visited (MD, Covid tested).

This past Sunday before our weekly photo walk (this time in Central Park) around NYC, at breakfast, a buddy highly recommended "My Octopus Teacher" on Netflix. Before seeing it, I came across a video also about octopuses called "The Insane Biology of the Octopus" that I believe Jerry referenced above.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFP_AjJeP-M&feature=emb_logo

It's a short concise 20-minute story of octopuses that also references "My Octopus Teacher." A wonderful video as well with time-lapse metamorphosis of these creatures while disguising itself against prey.

Be well! Ed

Per the October topic on UHH (linked by bluezzzz above), I watched free here:

A wonderful story, beautifully photographed.

I volunteered at the National Zoo's Invertebrate Exhibit in the late 1980's and enjoyed interaction with a giant octopus from Washington State
