I like the interesting waterfalls in #4 and the conical shape of the mountain in #2. I won’t even try to remember the spelling of those places! In #2, the mountain looks to be dropped in place as if a spoon were dropping a stiffly-beaten egg white.

Thanks Ellen, happy you like these images - and I have to commend you for your imagination in your analysis of #2 - it is a very interesting shape, particularly also when you see how it looks from the other sides - to me it looks like a mini Icelandic version of the famous Swiss Matterhorn - have a great weekend - Joe

Excellent set, Joe. You certainly have whetted my appetite for a trip to Iceland. I don't know why, but I was a bit surprised to see a photo of an abandoned farm.

Thank you John - I am quite happy that I opened up a window for you into another and very interesting country that is definitely worth a visit. I have actually noticed quite a few abandoned farms on this trip, and presented a number of pictures on them, you might not have seen all the episodes on this long journey, there were a few in the south that you can see in the sets #16 and 17 and I am sure I have seen quite a few more, but might not have taken pictures of them - I guess farming in this rather cold climate is a tough business - and it can also be a lonely experience as the farms seem to be spread far apart. Wishing you a pleasant weekend - Joe

Hi Joe, I haven't been on UHH for a couple of days, but went back to see your postings from the last few days. There are some beautiful colors in the #50 set of photos. I could not find #s 16 & 17 as I kept going from 15 to 18. BTW, I did use google maps for Latrabjarg, as you suggested, and it worked well. Have a great evening.

Hi John, good to hear that you liked the images in set #50 as well. To find the sets 16 & 17, or any other for that matter, click on the second link in todays introductory text (or you can actually also click on my name "weberwest" besides my avatar on top of this page - this will bring you to my profile. Click on the figure behind "number of topics created", and the list of my topics will open up, with the last set on top. Right on the top, you see the page numbers, as I have quite a few "pages" in the UHH directory filled already. Click on page 2 on that line, this will bring you to the earlier posts on Iceland. From there it is quite easy to find the #s 16 and 17, as I always use exactly the same structure for the texts within one series, so the numbers stick out. In that manner, you can also go further back, if for instance you want to see my series on DownUnder with Australia, New Zealand, Cook Islands and Fiji, or on Iran, or whatever your heart desires. I am actually working on an upgrade to my own photo-website, where I will list the series I posted on UHH as well, this will make it then easier to see what topics I have posted, as there is no overview possibility on UHH and you have to search through all the pages and lines. Hopefully I will have that completed by year-end.

Good luck, hope this works for you, write me anytime you have any questions in this regard
Have a good evening and Sunday tomorrow - Joe

PS, the way I described above via my profile is the same way you can look at onebody elses past postings, or also at your own.

In this set we visit Iceland's iconic Kirkjufell mountain and the immediately surrounding area and then move on to the western tip of the Snaefellsnes peninsula with some images of these pleasant surroundings.

KIRKJUFELL (Church Mountain), Grundarfjördur‘s beautiful landmark is said to be the most photographed mountain in Iceland. Its isolated position on a small peninsula jutting out into the sea with a height of 463 m / 1500 ft above sea level, makes the mountain a focal point for travelers and locals alike. The colors of the mountain change every season, from the summer greens to winter white so you‘ll always find a new perspective to this majestic mountain. The mountain also changes it appearance dramatically: while viewed from the waterfall, it forms an almost perfect stunning triangle, if viewed from Grundarfjördur, or particularly from the Surdur-Bar farm where I stayed, it shows a perfectly elongated shape. Next to Kirkjufell is the Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall that channels the glacial water of Snaefellsjökull glacier. The three pronged waterfall isn‘t very tall but makes for a beautiful photographing opportunity with the mountain in the background (which I didn't do on this trip but finally did this setting in February of this year).

Weather should be nice till March. Summer not so much as it can go past 40 °C (104.0 °F) in the shade.
The temporary office is still a chiller but no complaints. Better this than no job in the middle of this pandemic.
Thanks and likewise a good week to you and everyone out there. Keep safe.
