Nice work with the weed--pretty. Out here in Indiana farmland, we call it carrot top.

Why is that? Is it related to the carrot? Or does it have a carrot like root?

My grandfather called them wild carrots. The last house that he lived in had about a quarter acre of them between the house and the dirt road. This was in Saranac, MI. We always spent my Dad's vacation there. The first summer that we spent there, my older brother and I were given the job of pulling them out. I was 6. It took us two years of my Dad's vacation to pull all of them out.

Per the internet: Daucus carota, or wild carrot. Apparently the immature plants are edible, which I did not know.
