This is my preserved Black Straight Snouted Weevil that I staged for a face-on-view. The one that I posted of the full side view was a Brown and Black variety. I placed a sample paint swatch behind it to create the background color and I experimented with ping-pong balls placed over fiber optic light heads and overhead diffused LED light overhead for illumination of this session.

The Boll Weevil has be eradicated from most of the U.S. cotton growing areas. It being pushed out of southern Texas into Mexico.

That’s where the boll weevil came from originally. Tex Ritter recorded the Boll Weevil song in 1966.
It came from Mexico to Texas just looking for a home.
