I thought I solved the problem below by changing preferences in organizer but it happened again. The elements editor freezes at "initialization" and I can't get it to run. I called Adobe support but after waiting almost an hour I gave up. I have elements 2020 and it works fine but not 2021.
I just purchased the New Photoshop Elements 2021 and installed it on my computer. It worked fine for a few days and then today when I tried to open the editor it froze at initialization and wouldn't open. I removed and reinstalled the program but the same problem occurred again. Can anyone help? I never had this problem before with Elements.

There might be an Adobe forum that could help.
I've had good luck with Adobe chat support. You can keep working while you wait, it pings you when a tech replies.

Windows. Yes to all your other questions. I have PSE 2020 on the same computer and it works fine. And as I said 2021 works for a while and then freezes on initialization.
I know that was basic, however Adobe greatly increased the minimum system requirements by requiring a 6th gen or new processor and DirectX 12 for Elements 2021. Elements 2020 was more forgiving on older, underpowered computers.
My specs are ok and that doesn’t explain why it works for a while and then freezes.

I suspect a conflict somewhere. I suggest shutting down any other software that's running at the same time... i.e. virus/firewall, dropbox, EVERYTHING that you can that isn't needed for the computer to run. Even try booting your computer in Safe Mode then running it. If then, it behaves.... slowly bring back services. Not knowing what you are running, if you use a commercial virus/firewall like Norton or McAfee, they would be my first to suspect.... good luck.
Thank you. I’ll try your suggestions.

One other suggestion, uninstall 2021, run something like CCleaner to scrub the Registry, download 2021 from Adobe, turn off all those other services (especially any virus/firewalls), and right click on the install program, and "Run as Administrator."
