My friend and tutor introduced me to "back button focussing". Being a youngster I had never heard of it.
It took a little while to get used to using my thumb as well, but it was well worth the effort, it came in handy
shooting these Minnie photos, thanks again to my friend and tutor. The raw files are excellent, something else my friend has introduced me to........Try Downloading!!!!!

Cute pooch! I'm sure she's not at all spoiled.
I too resisted BBF for years but once I tried it I liked it.

Once you get some experience with BBF, you will never go back. Great shot and keep practicing.

Great set, I'm sure she has you well trained. BBF is the only way to go.

She's a real cutie! I tried BBF and went back to the "normal" focusing on the shutter button. Just couldn't do one more thing!
