Looking for someone with real world experience with this camera. It looks very interesting to me. If you have one, please share your experience using it. Thank you!

A friend of mine has one. There's nothing not to like about it, it's weather sealed has 24 pixels and takes great looking photo's. All Canon G series cameras are great cameras.

I have one but have not used it a lot. I was in St Lucia in January and used a Canon M50 but got caught in the rain with it. I took a plastic bag so I didn't get any damage but missed a bunch of shots so when I got back I ordered a Canon G1X mark3 because it is weather resistant. It has the same sensor at the M50 and works really well but is limited to 15MM- 45MM lens. I had planned to take it on a cruise in march but that didn't happen because of this virus. I was thinking about trading it for another full frame but like it so much that I didn't. I don't think you can go wrong with one but the lens will limit it's zoom abilities. Just my opinion. This is a photo of the moon that I took about five minutes ago to show you it's abilities. Original at 45MM and cropped in photoshop.

I have one and use it mainly for street photography. It’s not really pocketable as you probably already know. I wish the lens was a little brighter. Built like a tank! Bargains are available. I bought mine used with no evidence of use for $450 from a new camera retailer.

I purchased my G1iii 3/19 from National Camera Exchange, Minneapolis. I somehow felt the salesmen were happy they had managed to sell it.
I am an aged advanced (?) amateur, taking photos mainly of family, landscape, and travel, when such is possible. Gnashing of teeth.....
I don't do sports nor wildlife nor enlarge images. I email photos but find I seldom print. I have done several Snapfish photo books and the images were good.
Several years of reading UHH taught me that the camera you have with you takes better photos than the more advanced one at home. And that all cameras are a compromise. Thanks, UHH.
I appreciate the fully articulated touch screen. Plus the viewfinder for bright light. And the pop up flash with adjustable output. And that it will accept a circular polarizing filter and a lens hood.
It fits and carries easily in my hand. (Always with a wrist strap.)
It is not a shirt pocket camera like my G9.
I picked up a photographer friend's Canon DSLR and almost dropped it. Man, it was heavy and bulky.
I found several belt packs. I don't use the lens hood, as then it wouldn't fit into the belt pack.
I think my photo quality is good even in low light situations.
I miss that Canon removed the photo date stamp, though that is shown in the info screen.
I have never figured out if I can tether it to my iPhone 11 in order to do geotagging.
I looked at the Sony RX 100 series. Impressive but reviews say the menu system is harder to learn than Canon's, which I am used to.
So, for me the G1iii is a great compromise. Thanks, Canon.

I don't have one. I would have considered buying one but the limited zoom range stopped me.

I am also interested in this camera, and would appreciate any more real-life experience stories. Have already read a number of reviews, which are mixed.

The biggest grumble as I remember it from early reviews was the price. Since then, it's available for about $800 on the Canon refurb site. Yeah, lens is 24-72, f2.8-f5.6. It easily replaced my G16 for travel since most shots were in the 50mm range. For me, it was between the G1x iii and whatever Sony RX100 was out at the time. I owned and sold a a6000 with a slew of lenses a couple years ago. Since everything else I own is Canon, the only serious alternative was a G5x ii. I finally chose the G1x iii because a local camera dealer had one that he'd just taken in on trade. He sold it to me for what he gave the sell, $460. For that money, it is a steal. Given that, I still think a refurb for $800 is a fair price.

Thanks to all who have replied. I might try the Canon refurbished version for the warranty.
