Sony RX10 IV and image stabilization

I got a used RX10 IV and I am wondering if something is amiss with the image stabilization. I have looked in the menu and turned image stabilization on and I have looked for any switches/buttons to toggle it off/on without any luck. My Fujifilm cameras stop the shake in the viewfinder when OIS kicks in. But this Sony never stabilizes the image through the viewfinder - it just keeps jumping about. Is that normal? I know my Fuji have lens OIS while the Sony should have in-body. But does the image never "stabilize" in the viewfinder or have I not configured it correctly or is it defective?.

I am experiencing a similar situation. My Tamron 70-300 lens stabilizes in the viewfinder but not my Tamron 150-600 and I don't know if it is actually working.

I believe the Tamron lens has a VC switch for Vibration Control on the side. Is that switched to on?

I have the RX10IV and it is stabilized in the viewfinder and rear screen. Something may be broken. Try a reset.

Well, it was a thought. I know I have accidentally turned off stabilization on my Fujifilm on rare occasion.

Look in the menu for the "steady shot w/ shutter" option. It is seperate from the steady shot on/ off selection. Make sure that is turned on.

On my A77ii, it is under the gear icon. Just an FYI, I found having it turned on reduced the sharpness slightly on some longer lenses. I have a much higher keeper rate with it off. It's something about the steady shot system making last moment adjustments and moving the sensor slightly.

I've noticed that my telephoto shots are soft if IS is ON with high shutter speeds. Much better result if it is OFF when over 1/500th shutter spped is used.

Turn on SteadyShot: Menu/2/5/SteadyShot.
I definitely recommend either the White or Friedman books. I have the RX10 IV. The menu and settings are very challenging.
Good luck,
Mark
