I have never tried capturing my dog (Ozzie) catching his frisbee, can anyone give me some advice? I'll be using Canon gear, 5D IV and the 70-200 f2. 8L II. I may be stretching topic of sports but I'm guessing it might be close to soccer. Thank you
My first thoughts are: get down to Ozzie’s level or lower, Early sunlit evening with sun behind you, try to have Ozzie quarting toward you, nail the eye focus and shoot rapid bursts. I’d start at around f4 with a pretty quick ss.
Most important: Ozzie gets lots of his favorite treats!
Have fun!
Hope to see some shots.
Use servo mode & keep your sp up.
BBF!!! Set shutter speed to around 1/400th or faster. Set focus to a box group large enough for you to keep the dog's head in it while panning to follow him. I strongly suggest setting ISO to auto, and using shutter priority.
have a helper throw the Frisbee
Thank you for your advice. Some things I never thought of. Now to conjure up nice weather!
"...Now to conjure up nice weather!" gmango85 maybe rethink that... use the monochromatic magic of a snowstorm... instant subject isolation... besides doggies get totally silly playing in the snow...
What is the most breathtaking scenario? Having Ozzie running directly toward you with epic eye contact..
The challenge? Having your 5D IV and the 70-200 f2. 8L II track Ozzie in a full gallop coming straight at you...
Lucky doggy...
Thanks, you have me expanding my thinking of new scenarios.
