I understand that most of these easily cAight errors are deliberate - the intent being to catch to low-hanging fruit, those who simply don't know better.
If you are a scammer, you want agulloble easily fooled target, not someone who's watching out and being careful, someone who is going to be trouble to scam - hence the easily avoided mystery princes of Nigeria who want to share the family wealth.
I had a friend, not very computer literate, who actually fell for one of these things and sent off money to some such nonsense.

One doesn't need scammers to mess up Netflix. I've never had a Netflix account but all of a sudden I'm getting Netflix payments coming off my credit card. Took a lawyer and three months to convince Netflix I didn't have an account and get refund!!
