I recently updated PS to version 21.2.4. Now I'm getting the following messages: When I try to open a raw file>"Could not complete your request because PS does not recognize this type of file". When I try to open one of my jpegs> "Could not open because the file was not found". I still have earlier versions 2019 and 2018 and tryed them with same problem. I posted this question to Adobe forum but haven't received reply yet. Before I get on the phone with Adobe I thought I would try here to see if anyone has any advice. Thanks in advance for any help.

The latest version (Photoshop 2021) is 22.0.0.
I know what the latest version is. My computer is too old to upgrade to 22.
I get that type of error after upgrading to 22.0.0

You definitely should get on chat with tech support.

After upgrading to version 22 I had the same errors. Ended up calling Adobe. They took control of my computer remotely and disabled my graphics card in the preferences menu. All is fine now.
On a PC follow this: Edit > Preferences > Performance. Then on the upper right side uncheck "Use Graphics Processor"
I hope this helps.
I have a 2010 Mac. When I upgraded to the latest version of photoshop I received the same error messages. I spent some time with support and they made some adjustments to help me access Adobe Bridge. However they came to the conclusion that I could not run the latest version of photoshop on my machine. They suggested I contact Apple support. Apple support determined my MAC would not support the latest photoshop version. Yikes, I guess it is time to replace my perfectly working MAC. I will provide the following positive comment: in 10 years my MAC has never had one problem requiring a repair.
I updated to the latest version of both Lightroom and Photoshop and they are working fine. What is not working is Camera Raw in either. Will be calling Adobe on Monday.

Here's the rub. If you can't run software that you'd like to run on it, then it's no longer a "perfectly working Mac."
FWIW, I am sending this on a 10 yr old desktop PC, which, like your Mac, has never had a problem requiring repair. Once I upgrade the OS from Win7 to Win10, I don't expect any issues. I've already migrated my data and installed clean fresh versions of my software onto a new Win10 laptop, so I do have a backup in the event things go south.

Thanks but I'm running a mac.
Eventually, the computer software becomes too advanced for the computer hardware to handle. I believe computer software makers also stop trying to cover older computers. As a result, I buy a new laptop computer every 3 to 4 years.
Your Apple product may still live a useful life in word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, etc.

To all. Thanks. I just uninstalled all my versions of bridge and PS, reinstalled and problem solved. Might break down today and buy a used 2012 or later imac or macbook on ebay.
Got the same messages, but once I updated my graphics driver from Intel, it works much better.
