Photodex/Photopia - What's next?

When Photodex closed it's doors and some of its pervious employees started up Photopia (is there a slight bankruptcy odor here or is just me?), I'm pretty sure I was told that I could continue to use the product but there would no longer be updates available. I tried to create a new show last night with Pro Show Producer and I thought things were going just fine. When I saved and exported the video, it was nothing but a series of warnings that I may be using an illegal program. In other words, my work was in vain and no movie was produced. The plan is that we who love the program will willingly migrate to Photopia and pay $24.95/month. That doesn't work for me because I only make 1 or 2 movies a year, at least until Covid 19 lifts. Even then, maybe 6 or 8 a year. I can't afford that. Not your concern, and I'm sorry about that.

The issue is, when I purchased Pro Show Producer, I also purchased the boxed program with the book and cd program. Does it make sense that I could totally uninstall my current program and reinstall from the cd as long as I don't try to do any updates? Or should I just shop for a new program? Any suggestions? Advice would be appreciated.

At least the movies already made are fine and in a universal format. I seldom if ever go back in to make changes, so I will probably delete the old work files.

Experimenting with the remove (completely) and re-install would be a good thing to try. If that doesn't work, there are a lot of "movie making" applications out there that are free and quite powerful.

Thanks Bob, that's probably what I'll do, but I am also all ears about "free and quite powerful". Any leads come to mind? Thanks again, Bob

After a major computer hard drive failure I am back up working with Win 10. I reloaded Proshow Producer and it works perfectly. I've made several shows using my win10/ proshow producer with NO problems at all. What is the OP's computer software?

I'm on Windows 10. I did uninstall the downloaded version from when I first purchased the program, and then re-installed from the CD copy and there were no problems. I haven't tested it yet but I'm pretty sure it will work. I think some updates that I downloaded before Photodex closed are still there after the uninstall, so I'm hoping that some of the newer designs might still be there.

AZ, I feel your pain. I have used Pro Show Gold for quite some time and when I tried using it recently, found it had all sorts of problems, especially after it attempted to update but "page does not exist'' notice, etc. I made the mistake of re-installing. Bad move. I had vs.7.? but of course it reverted to the original vs. 5 when I reinstalled. No hope now of an update and it still refuses to work as it should. When I imported photos to it they refused to take residency on the timeline.... (most of the time!) Maybe once out of 10 attempts, it would work as it should have, so into the 'Outdated and eliminated software' bin it goes. No longer useful.

I'm very happy with Wondershare's Filmora for both simple video editing and/or slideshows now.
God Bless,
Papa Joe
