Covid-19 v Flu

UK BBC News 14/10/2020 (UK figures).

“Between January and August 2020, there were 48,168 deaths due to Covid-19 compared to 13,600 from pneumonia. Only 394 were due to flu.”

OP says - I believe that the BBC News is probably the most reliable news on the planet.

Wear a mask – wash hands every hour and before touching face – practise 2m (at least) distancing.
STAY ALERT – STAY SAFE

The COVID-19 deaths are certainly "nothing to sneeze at."**

** "something that deserves serious attention, "

I too listen to the bbc. Not as slanted politically as most US news. Still slanted some but only a bit compared to our so call press. Been listening to them for many years.

What we really have no numbers for are the other afflictions associated with the virus.

There are many sources with many possibilities of many other health issues...to say nothing of depression, etc.

A few ideas: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-05-12/covid-19-s-health-effects-can-last-long-after-virus-is-gone

The younger generations who think that they can ignore Covid-19 and quickly recover if infected, need to understand that many will then suffer 'long-covid' - which may include chronic heart, and/or chronic lung and/or chronic liver and/or chronic kidney and/or chronic brain and/or chronic sight and hearing diseases. Or chronic fatigue, and especially loss of lobido.
This disease will test the very existence of the human race, as it is not just spread by humans, but by wild animals - which is where it all started.

Bologna is a city in Spain, but I am not sure if it is the city where the COVID-2 RNA was found. No, it was found in Barcelona wastewater collected in March 2019, months before the major outbreak.** At times diseases are not recognized in the early stages, pneumonia, then "OH! special pneumonia!!" For sure, there are probably by now many mutations of the COVID-2 virus infecting the population. If one is lucky they will fall ill to the less virulent strain. Having one strain may not immune the person to another. Teaching in High-school was a hotbed of reinfection of respiratory viruses, for me and also the younger teachers. [I started after retirement at 70]

Those who deny the dangers of COVID-19 should volunteer to take care of infected patients and not wear a mask. They owe it to the foolish herd immunity movement.
