Driving by this morning and found this Gray Hawk on a Speed limit sign.
He must be doing his own traffic monitoring.
Couldn't resist doing a u-turn and grabbing these shots.

Looks like a beautiful Red Shouldered Hawk (RSH). Nice high perch from which to hunt his next meal.

Thanks....Merlin identifies this as a Gray Hawk. But yes he was on a high-perch.
I thought he was beautiful as well.

Merlin was correct in IDing it as a Gray Hawk. The Gray Hawk is, as it's name suggests, shades of gray whereas the Red-shouldered has a lot of reddish not just on the shoulders but also on the breast. The Red-shouldered also has a lot of pale spotting on the wings and back. Love the speed trap comment. Good capture.
