Thats a lots of fantastic shots in one day! Congrats!

Many thanks, larrybaill. I took a couple of hundred shots in all, so these are just the better ones. It was nice to have a tale to tell as well. Have a nice week and take care of yourself. jak

VERY nice images, congratulations!

I am not a wildlife photographer but several people in my photography club are. I understand the difficulty in capturing a high quality, well composed image of a Heron or a raptor. My hat is off for anyone who can do that.

Ernest, Thank you. I agree that it's not easy to get quality photos of wildlife. I've spent a lot of time over the past couple of years and don't always feel that I've improved much. I felt that I had a very fortunate day in getting these photos. Take care of yourself and have a very nice week. jak

Thanks, Dave. I admit that I was very pleased with these and a few other photos I got that day, but I recognize that some of the pleasure comes from how lucky I was to have walked into the situations I recorded. I guess that's often the case though. Much appreciated. Have a great week and stay healthy. jak

An excellent set.

kpmac, how nice to hear from you again. Thanks for viewing and commenting on may post. I was very lucky to happen across those subjects and situations. That's frequently the case and I frequently fail to capture them in a way that makes me feel like I'm making progress. These felt pretty good. Take care of yourself and stay healthy. jak

I can see a heron getting a mouse, but what was the critter the heron in image # 2 ran off with? Really exceptional work Jak. I loved the eye level view of the redtail. Cool stuff.

griffzky, I appreciate your viewing my submission and taking the time to write. There's some questions still as to the larger critter fought over by the pair of Great Blue Herons. I was corrected by one viewer that it could not have been a groundhog, which would have been much larger that the creature being slung around by this heron. After looking into it a bit, I think it is a gopher, which is the right size and which is a common rodent in the Southern California area. I'm going to ask the folks at the Conservancy down where I took the photos to make sure. As for the retail, it was very patient and didn't seem to be the least concerned with us standing and moving and snapping photos. There is a pair of Redtails that lives on the mesa, spending most of its time in a tall snag behind where these photos were taken. I think this was one of them. As such, they would be very used to humans and to the comings and goings on the mesa. Take care and have a good week. jak
