Still in Bannack, Montana, where the Gold Rush began back in the 1860's. Here's a couple of an old International truck that's probably close to a century old. If you listen closely, you can maybe hear the miners laughing and shouting and the sounds of the town echoing faintly across the hills... maybe just the wind, but, then again, maybe not...

The 2nd image tells an interesting story and peaks my curiosity even more. Thanks.

Looks like a place I'd love to explore. I'd love to see more images of the town.

Great photos Tommy. I believe that #2 tells more of a story with the town in the background. Mahalo for sharing.

Two great shots. Two is more incredible than one. They built those old Internationals tough. This one has withstood the test of time very well.

A friend of mind is an old truck buff. I would say he is an expert on these trucks. I sent him a copy of your photo (hope you don't mind). Here is what he sent me back:

"That is a great photo of an old workhorse. There are several clues that help narrow down the year range on this one – although I can’t place it exactly because the same features were on trucks from around 1928 to 1931. The clues are the stylized top of the radiator, placement of the headlamps ( pan type, not buckets ) the nameplate location, the fact that the hood is hinged at the top center and the side panels are removable for engine access and the single rear tires. It’s too bad we can’t see the wheels. This could be what was known as a “ Special Six “ model, meaning that there were three speeds on the floor with a two speed rear axle ( high & low ) combining to make six forward speeds. It had a very small four cylinder flat head engine."

I am surprised that the lower front window glass is still intact.

Thanks for doing that, Jim! As you can probably tell from my posts, I am very interested in the history of the images I take. This was much appreciated and I'll see if I have an image with the wheels more evident. If so, I'll PM you with it.

I will be posting some additional pictures of Bannack and Virginia City, Montana as I work through them. Took hundreds on our trip and am slowly processing those that I think have merit. Stay tuned!
