I live in beautiful northern Lower Michigan and we usually have a spectacular but short fall color display. So, I've been sitting at home watching the leaves slowly turning a dull, yellowish orange, day by day and I'm wondering, "Where is the color?"
Today, Saturday the 10th, was a beautiful, clear, blue-sky kind of day up to 60°. I drove into town on an errand and noticed some nice color on a few trees. When I got home I asked my wife if she wanted to go for a ride and see some of the color we've been missing. She thought about it and said, "No", so I told her I was going out for a drive to take some pictures.
We live in the least populated county in Lower Michigan with a lot of old logging trails and roads for the many remote oil wells, very rocky, hilly, or sandy at times. So, I picked one I had never driven on before. All of the below photos were taken along about a five mile stretch of a 40 mile drive. So, more to come in the days ahead.
There is so much beauty all around here that it takes something really outstanding to grab my attention to actually stop the car and get out to take a picture. One nice thing is that I can just stop the car in the two-track, leave it running, get out to take the picture, and then continue on. Didn't see one other car on this stretch of "road".
Today was a great day, the color is out there, just not right in front of our house.
Hope you enjoy God's handiwork.

Good ones. Looks like it's getting close to getting the warmer clothing out.

thank you
I miss real fall colors here in So Calif.
The two lane county road and my Grandparent's farm along it used to be in a guide book to fall color drives. (maybe still is) People were driving by the house a lot and some asked if it was OK to park on the road in front to look and take pictures. My Grandmother enjoyed talking to them, learning where they were from, answering their questions etc. That was in Ballard County Kentucky at the junction of the Ohio and Mississippi rivers.
Great set of Fall images. Thanks for sharing them.
Nice ones. It’s out there this year if we look for it.
These are lovely. What a pleasant drive you had. Although I like the brilliant reds, the yellows and blues in #3 really are attractive.
Nice shots, fall is my favorite time for photos.
A very nice set. Love the colors. #s 1, 6, and 9 are favorites.
