There’s been a lot of high-rise apartment construction in Chicago since I retired in 2014. Like many hi-tech professionals, I find construction work intriguing. I have been lucky enough to be imbedded with a few construction Crews working around the city. Over six years, I’ve photograph 17 construction sites, some from groundbreaking to topping-off. This has been a highly educational, challenging and enjoyable experience…..and I am grateful to the different Crews that have allowed me to make some artful progressive photographs of their work activities. I am still active with a few sites, although efforts have slowed under current pandemic conditions. This is my first photo post to UHH….a few select photos from the collections of the building site I have been on....more on my web-site. Thanks for viewing:
All I can say is bravo to the iron workers union. What a bunch of courageous men and women.
Great images of the crews. I would love to see the last one in "download". My work often took me up antenna masts, derricks on drill ships and and rigs in the marine environment, but does not compare to that busy environment 20 stories up over a city. Stay well and keep on posting.
Thanks for the comments....will try to add the last one again with "download"
Actual photo journalism, Ron, thanks for sharing.
These are highly engaging, and not a common subject on UHH. Thanks for sharing!
You can add your website to your signature line on UHH or on your profile page, if you desire.
If you haven't had a chance to browse much of this site, click on "all sections" at the bottom of this page to find many volunteer-moderated specialty sections. Those will require clicking the subscribe button if you want to keep track of new topics via the link at top of any page, or the emailed digest.
Welcome!
Thanks very much for your reply. As I am a new poster and not wanting to offend the UHH audience....please explain your comment, "not a common subject on UHH". What subjects do you recommend?

Thanks for sharing the larger view. There are not many people on UHH who do this type of photography, so you are opening up new perspectives. Keep up the great work, stay safe and keep on posting!
I meant my comment to be a compliment that of the hundreds of images posted to Photo Gallery every day, yours stood out as not just high quality compositions and processing, but unique subject matter as well.
A quick way to check what others are sharing is to use "newest pictures" link at the top of the page. There are so many images posted to Photo Gallery every day that 24 pages of thumbnails will only take you back about three days.
You will find a very wide range of interests and participation on this site. Enjoy your journey!

Terrific work. The black and white immediately brought the work of Margaret Bourke White to mind. Amazing opportunity to shoot from a position the vast majority on this site will never get to. Beautifully done.

Love the high contrast!!!!
Nice work with the construction sites, Ron.
To expand on my last comments, there were seventy-six new topics posted to Photo Gallery on October 10. You will learn that many folks use the emailed daily digest to view UHH. However, the digest contains only 35 Photo Gallery topics.
This thread appears in at least one version (there is more than one version of the digest, this being a worldwide forum). In the future, don't gauge the response you receive solely on image quality or content. Many people might never find you!
