The series ends when Cincinnati is threatened with expulsion by the AMERICAN ASSOCIATION for playing non sanctioned games, the RED STOCKINGS had been expelled from the NATIONAL LEAGUE at the end 1880 for selling beer at games and using their home field for exhibition games against local amateurs on Sundays.
