Loc: St. Louis burbs, but originally Chicago burbs
The NHRA Midwest Nationals are this weekend in STL (well, just over the border in IL). I was thinking of getting tickets, but it's supposed to rain and be pretty chilly. I went to is a few years back and got some good shots. I was just about even with the starting line. Next time I'll sit near the middle or end to get some different looks. I don't remember what the ticket cost...maybe like $50...just checked the website. Tickets run from $45 for Friday to $70 Sat/Sun
Brings back so many fond memories
Great action shots, Larry. Brings back memories of going to the Detroit Drag Strip 60 years ago when 8 sec. runs were a Wow!
Busy, busy, busy--thanks for sharing all your good work.

Loc: Houston suburb
Many years ago, 22-23 maybe, I won tickets to the Houston NHRA races. That was back when they actually raced a quarter mile, not 1000 feet. We sat about mid-track and about half way up the stands. When the cars passed by, especially the top fuel and funny cars, the exhaust pulses were literally like someone doing Tarzan thumps on your chest progressively from one side to the other. It was really interesting how intensely it thumped you.
These cars raced on a 1/4 mile track. I asked about that and was told to race 1/8 mile at Milan its done with a box,???. A motorcycle went 167 MPH on the 1/4 mile.
The photographs are very nice in every way, but equally as nice are the comments from folks touched by drag racing.
Great shots, reminds me of all the race tracks I attended all across the country.
