You know the old saying: Cheer up, things could be worse. Then I cheered up and sure enough, things got worse.

During the last couple of weeks or so I've had several things go South, so I need to vent a little. First several florescent light tubes have been causing problems, so I decided to replace them with ones from my home workshop. I would then put in some newer LED's replacements. Okay so I buy some Phillips that claim to be easy to swap out. I then added the LEDs to a typical shop fixture, but I soon discovered they didn't like to actually light, they got very hot and sort of sizzled/sparked. So that chapter has yet to be resolved. I personally dislike those double pronged tubes anyhow. My studio area has 8' tubes that never cause problems. Next, I became sick and nearly unable to move much at all, so I'm in the hospital thinking I might have Covid, which it turns out to be pneumonia and some blood sugar balance, so that's the lucky part except for the week in bed, blood and temperature tests. I'm now back working on assignments so I decided to get in early, but I was again foiled by a broken radiator hose, the tow and the dues that involves. On Friday I needed to print out a instruction manual, so I started to print but ran out of paper. Now today with paper in hand, the printer won't even turn on! It's a Canon Pro 100 that was a replacement for a prior defective one, so perhaps that's statement from Canon! I have had a area air cleaner that helps keeping dust down in my model railroad room, but now after several years it won't turn on either. What's next, not sure if I should even try driving home!

"pneumonia and some blood sugar balance, so that's the lucky part"I feel for you Bob...
but if that's your idea of lucky

I've had some things go unusually haywire over the last 10 days too mate. First I wiped out my drivers side rear vision mirror (the type that has 6 wires for motors in it that operate the remote adjusting and integrated indicator) on the gate post while backing my car out... I reckon i used every swear word that exists... and no one to blame but myself... SPEW BAGS! Yesterday I discovered that the GST and other import costs were exactly double what I expected for a wrist watch I bought from France... that hasn't arrived yet. Today I rode my motorcycle to the hardware store... as I was slowing to a stop in the car park, I went to put my foot down as usual, but the loop of my shoelace hooked on the foot peg, stopping my foot from going down and I dropped the bike... and myself... snapping the ball off the end of the clutch lever and hurting my left ankle which had already been injured in... wait for it... an aircraft accident What next, you ask... well Bob,
the tide always turns, so I reckon we should buy lottery tickets.

I did solve one thing with the help of a on-line help. The Canon pro 100 still wouldn't budge, so I maybe I could contact a Canon service station but I was directed to 'somebody else'? The first answer said to unplug it for 1 minute, but that didn't help. the second advisor said to unplug for 5 minutes--by golly it worked! I've never had to let the memory die or whatever happens that long.

Good that you got it working again.

One of the tech sites recommends that for most processor/computer devices. In fact the guy said un-plug, and press the power button several times to drain any residual/quick start type things - and one of those button presses hold it down at least 10-30 seconds to flush all the caches. I have had a couple of "bugs" that the procedure solved including one machine that was very slow starting. I guess it was checking a bunch of old commands or something and once they were gone startup was much faster.

Sounds to me that you need a cup of tea (no alcohol-bad for the sugar) and a sit down in a nice recliner or comfy couch. Change out light bulbs tomorrow. You don't need any more hassles for the day. I wish you good luck tomorrow. At least tomorrow is HUMP DAY and everything goes well on hump day!!

From a retired Electrician, The older inexpensive shop lights used a ballast that was for 25 watt lamps and will not light any LED tubes. (Look at the ballast or transformer if it is less than 10" long, it won't work, replace the whole fixture with an LED type, least expensive in the long run.) If the fixture used (1" diameter) T-8 lamps you can get compatible LED T-8 lamps, just be sure you make sure they are the type for florescent tube replacement. (Compatible.) Good luck
