Last year when I upgraded from Mojave I ran into problems with 64 bit OS and Photoshop ? To be able to use Photoshop which is my primary computer usage, I had to go back to Mojave with the help of the Apple tech folks. Has Adobe resolved this problem and can I safely upgrade or do I need to stay with Mojave ? Thanks in advance for any help.

No I upgraded and now photoshop is dead. Adobe wants you to go to the online monthly fee so I don’t think there will be a fix.

I initially had issues with PSCC but slowly the bugs are getting worked out. The tools that I use on my MacBook Pro appear to work.

I am using Adobe Photoshop CC 2019 with Catalina, MacBook Pro 16” Touch Bar 2019 LapTop, before I installed PS, I thought I was gonna have problems and I considered going from Catalina (Which is pre-installed on new 16” MacBook) back down to Mojave but found out I couldn’t down grade, so I installed PS CC 2019, and Adobe Camera Raw 12.3 and after months of usage I haven’t had one single problem not one and I do a lot of editing and I mean 1 to 200 pictures pre shoot, so then I installed LightRoom CC 2019 no problems there eather, but let me add that before I use eather program I turn off WlFi, suggestion from a friend photographer in The Philippines and I haven’t had no problems no issues in Catalina with Photoshop CC and Lightroom CC, nor with Limunar 4, Nix Color Effect,

If you want to use OS X 10.15 and onwards you will have to get PS CC 2020 which means the photo bundle on a subscription basis. This works flawlessly on my Mac which is up to date. Don't scrimp on memory.

Understand your frustration!! While you do not mention the Photoshop version you are using, my guess is that you are trying to run 32bit Photoshop on the Mac 64 bit OS. Apple has warned users of its 32 bit OS that it would be migrating to a 64 bit OS this year and that legacy 32 bit programs would probably not work once the OS has been upgraded to the new 64 bit OS. Suggest you speak to Adobe with respect to upgrading your existing Photoshop software to 64 bit.

Hopefully that will end your problems, assuming your MAC hardware is capable of using the 64 bit OS. I know, it is frustrating when a perfectly good operating system and its companion OS along with a first class application becomes downright useless all because one or more of the components changes. It is called progress and I am uncertain if I agree!
All the best Garth

There is a fix, install the newest (64 bit) version of Photoshop.

Beginning with Catalina, the MAC OS will ONLY run 64bit applications. Apple has be telling folks this for over 18 months before the cutoff and has even warned when starting 32 bit apps under the previous OS. There was (IS?) an easy way on the MAC to see what bit the software that you were using was. If you wish to stay current and get bug fixes and the latest applications, you need to keep your software updated. This requires the 'leasing' model at $ 10 per month which, to me at least, is an outstanding bargain. Best of luck.

I use Catalina with primarily LrC, also with Ps2020 on my 2013 iMac. No problems, including use of non-Adobe plug-ins.

I'm prepping my software collection preparing to move up from macOS Mojave to 64 bit OS. I knew of a few apps that were 32 bit where I needed to find 64 bit versions (most critical was my 2007 Quicken and my 2011 MS Office suite !). So I downloaded a free app (Go64.app) to scan all my application versions and it quickly produced a list of all 32 bit and 64 bit applications on my system (with additional info on websites, version numbers, etc.). Very handy for planning for the 64 bit upgrade.

This will also likely prompt me to upgrade my 2012 mac mini which is working fine, but the graphics chip is showing its age by slowing down with each additional ON1 RAW update. Lots more processing going on under the hood....

Hi I'm Tom Murray here in Fort Worth, Texas. There are many reasons why I don't up grade to 64 bit Apple system. I have many programs that are 32 bit. Strata 3D is my modeling app as well as all of my Adobe apps.
PhotoShop is one I use the most of for photo editing and printing. I retired from Lockheed as a digital graphic artist and blessed with a great career for 37 years. During that time I was really into the operating systems information of our many computers. Over the years I've watched Apple change the way they move forward with computers. 64 bit is the future of all computers as the applications require that for faster processors that can handle large files. Some of my files are 750gig and larger. Hope that helps you to understand why we are going through this 64bit/32bit change now.
