I have never really used profiles and am considering that in photoshop CC. I usually edit in RAW. I was trying to make one with a program called Color Checker Camera Calibration and well, failed. Also tried to downlod some free and can't figure that out either. I know Im turning 72 so maybe just not so sharp anylonger but been on computers since the days of Floppies so, I think i know what I'm doing.

Anyone have any opinion as to the use of presets, good or bad? If worth the effort, WTH am i doing wrong that I can't get them?

It's not being 72, not at all. Try youtube and put what you want in the search box. It has saved me endless frustration. But I'm only 75.

Well I'm 74 and closing in on 75 and I have made a profile for each camera I use that neutralizes ALL modifications on import, including the low level sharpening applied to each image.

Try searching Youtube. You can find a lot of stuff on there and they usually have what you need.
