Thanks for viewing and for asking. I use a "FLAT" depth of field objective as the lens of the camera which means that only something like a tip of a hair is in sharp focus at a time. As such, the camera moves forward in 15-micrometer steps at a time (there's 100,000 micrometer in a meter).

This image was 168-images in the stack. I shoot them in RAW and then process the stack into TIFF so that they can be processed in the focus stacking software.

I do not march the camera forward to get the entire subject in focus for it would take far too many steps so much of the remaining subject is softly out of focus.

My Better Half often tells me that if I don't move around more I'll start to attract flies so I sit here now with a fly swatter by my side.

One of the little devils landed next to me as I was enjoying a morning cup of coffee. Little did it realize that I am an among the best swatters in the universe. Unfortunately for it there was not even a chance that it would lift off before meeting its unavoidable doom. A lighting fast flick of the wrist with a quick uplift on impact and it's over in a flash.

I celebrate another kill and add another notch on the trusty swatter as I continue to sip my morning coffee.

In tribute to the undermatched foe I have immortalized it in a focus stacking session at 5x magnification as I have many of its fallen brethren.

I really think this one is one of your best recent examples. Those pesky flies are tough to nail down soemtimes because they have excellent RADAR domes on their heads...hahahaha

Thanks, Blair. I will admit that I have far more swat misses than I do hits. When I get one I run around the house in celebration like the fellow that scores a goal in an international soccer match.
