loading Photoshop Actions

I recently downloaded and unzipped a list of actions from Photowhoa. The actions are saved in a folder as ATN files.
I have tried to load these actions into Photoshop without success. I open the action window in PS, click on an action from those that were downloaded and select open. The action then appears in the list of actions showing in the action window, but the controls to run the action are grayed out. I then tried to copy and paste an action from the folder and copy into the PS Preset Action folder also without success in running the action.
Wondering if the ATN files I downloaded could be defective, or is my technique erroneous

Open the Action window in PS. Click on the Fly-Out window (with the 3 small hashtag lines in the upper corner). A list will open. Click on Load Actions from that list. In that dialog, navigate to where those actions reside (on your Desktop) and click Load. They will show up at the bottom of your list of actions in PS.

Thank you. I have done that and the actions show up in the actions window, but the controls to run the action are greyed out. There are other actions listed that can be run by clicking on the controls. This why I suspect the actions downloaded may be defective.

You can try to send me the Action in a PM and I will try to check it out.

Nearly all the actions I've got are designed to run in 8 bit and are not compatible with 16 bit images. A file imported from Lightroom will, by default, be 16 bit . You could try making sure that your files are 8 bit and give it another go.

I have run into a similar issue... make sure that you have a locked background layer and create a new layer named to whatever the created or directions want you to name it like “brush”...and lowercase if instructed to... maybe this will help.

Could the action itself be inside a folder.
