I have dealt with King Grant and his wife at KEH since many years ago when they operated a retail store in Dallas in addition to their facility in Georgia. I know their business and life philosophies and know that their goal is to provide fair, honest service and products. Over the years, they have taken up the slack created by the retirement and closure of a number of local stores, so their volume now I'm sure causes a few errors to slip through. I've never had a problem, but I've also never heard of a situation in which a legitimate problem didn't get resolved satisfactorily.
One thing to be aware of is that they do tend to separate manuals and all but the basic accessories from products to sell separately. (Not a big problem now that so many manuals are available for download on line.) This has been a really good thing for me, because I've several times been able to purchase manuals from them that were not otherwise available anywhere else. But my last SB400 flash came without the cool little zipper case that is made for it. They operate an in-house repair center to provide support for products that they sell. Their prices are not generally rock-bottom, but their ratings are conservative and the overall values are almost always very good.

I agree with you. They are a legitimate business and when problems arise (what company has 100% perfection?) they are responsive and will take care of you. I mentioned the camera problems because not everything is rosy and things slip through sometimes. That camera is still a great back up/secondary FF camera for me.
You can find used lens on other sites, but be careful of the warranties. Canon offers refurbished lenses while other sites offer used lenses. Refurbed lens are a little more but the manufacturers warranty is usually 1 year versus 90 days.
The vast majority of my lenses are brought used, normally for e-bay.
Only about 1% have had any issues that weren't evident before I paid & Paypal ensured refunds for those.
I would be careful of lenses brought from overseas as customs duty can be a shock (and are not covered by e-bay's refund policy).
I have bought from keh and mpb. Both companies are extremely good to deal with. The two things I liked about keh were. There is a 180 day return policy. And there bargain grade lenses are in extremely fine condition. You would hardly know they were really used. The optics are in good condition. The outer lens barrel really does not make a difference. It is just a way of getting good lenses as a reasonable cost.

I am about to enter the world of interchangeable lenses. Are there any reliable mail order sources of used lenses? As I have a limited budget, I would like to keep costs down while I learn what lenses would get most use. I can invest in new ones later if the used ones don't do a good enough job. I will be purchasing a Canon T7, so I'm specifically interested in EF and EF-S lenses.
If you live in the USA MPB is really good, I have bought lenses from them on a couple of occassions. They have an accurate description for each lens. I also use London Camera Exchange (I live in England), they also offer excellent service, though the initial on line description is not as detailed as that provided by MPB. YouTubers and professional photographers Matt Granger and Jared Polin sell their old gear to reputable shops and should have details on their respective sites.
I’ve bought lenses and other used photog things from MPB. I’ve had excellent experiences and their prices were a bit better than B&H and Adorama who also are excellent.

I have bought and kept several lenses from KEH. And I have returned several just because I've changed my mind after trying a lens, not because of a problem on their part. I like that you have 2 weeks to return the item no hassle. You have to pay shipping both ways if you return an item for no reason. but that is reasonable to me, Free shipping otherwise.

I have done business on Ebay for over 15 years buying and selling. Ebay gives you a 30 money back, I pay through Paypal without an issue.
When your looking, make sure the seller is giving you a 30 day return also, and they have a 100% rating. Look closely at the photo's of the lens and if you have any questions you can contact the seller about it.
KEH, Adorama, and B&H also have used lenses for sale and they will give your money back also if your not happy.
KEH offers a 180 day warranty, and 14 day returns.
I've had terrific experience buying used from KEH, including a Nikon body that was sold as "Bargain" condition (one of their lower and least costly ratings). It was like new...couldn't fine a mark on it, and a shutter count of 7000.
Be sure the lenses you’re interested in will be compatible with your camera, even if they’re the same brand. You can check the maker’s website for that lens.
I have been a professional photographer all my life, and bought mostly new lenses, but when I decided to buy anything use, my experience was that buying from B&H, or Adorama is your bet choice. They sell you equipment that they have professionally tested and you can trust.
KEH as others have said is a good start...then B&H and Adorama.
Hope you are getting the CT7 for next to nothing...it's a really meh camera.
If you stay away from "S" lenses you will not have to replace them if orb when you go to a full frame camera.
If you ever go full frame the "S" lens will not work. Also in general I think the non "S" lenses are not as good as the full frame lens. I'm sure some one on the blog will challenge that. (So an so "S" lens is better than stand so full frame lens)

I'm seeing what everyone else has mentioned. I've also found that ProCam.com & Roberts Camera Used site both have some good lenses & are very reputable & been in business many years
