I have tried different sizes for my photos but due to trouble transporting to shows, mostly chipped frames or corners coming apart, I have settled on a 9x13 with 2 1/2 all around making a 18x24. (large enough to command wall space yet easy to transport.)

Love the image.
On Print size, my only comment is that we tend to over estimate the ability of an average home or office wall to "carry" a large Print> Between furniture, lighting, windows etc. there are only a few spaces that could adequately support, in a visual sense, an framed art piece much bigger that 12x15 plus a suitable frame. I have two monotypes, one is HUGE. It represents a major consideration where to put it whenever we move. Today it is in our living room, but who knows where on teh enxt stop? It is 36/48" at least.

You math leaves me a little confused. 9 x 13 with 2 1/2 all around works out to 14 x 18.
you are correct, large prints perhaps need a destination prior to creation
